Always on Ambient display

So I took my phone off charge six hours ago and laid it down screen up and I have not used it at all in that time.
I wanted to see how much battery always on ambient display would use. 12% to be exact.
Do you guys think this would be normal usage?
I checked battery usage, even system processes and ambient display was the only thing that used the battery.

I'm on a 3xl, 10 beta 6 by the way.
Sounds about normal, however if you want to increase the battery life and decrease that Ambient display usage, here's a trick... Go into the gesture settings And turn off flip to shush mode. Then whenever your phone is on a flat surface, flip the phone over which will kick off the Ambient display and you can always flip the phone over again to check notifications quickly but doing this will turn off the Ambient display saving even more battery!

Cool thanks for the tip!

Of course, anytime. I figured that out the hard way. Basically if you leave your phone laying face up on a flat surface and being displayed will always be on. If you force The sensors to kick ambient display off, it'll save a bit more battery power.

Eric, don't you have the option to only have the ambient display come on when you lift the phone up?

Yes, I tried that. I'm just saying that if we always hold our phones in our hands, what's to stop the ambient display from coming on every two seconds? Lol I figured this is the lesser of two evils so to speak. You're right though, there are two different gesture modes. One makes more sense to me than the other one though.
