Apps running in the background. What is the deal?

I have had my Droid 4 Razr for just over a week and I effing LOVE it. I came from an LG Oasis. What an effing great phone! This OS ICS 4.0.4 whataver that means is so easy to use and adjust I am digging it. Question: I go to manage apps, and check what is running, some apps I get and some I have no idea wtf they are. When and how do I know what to stop, outside of shutting down some dumb game? There are 18 apps using cache, 607mb vs 334mb free. I am afraid to stop an app. I am going to leave it alone till I know enuff but ti seems already that my ram is crammed. Am I wrong? Thanks for any advice! Android rox! Who the heck needs an eyefone? DUH.

run the app select what you want to kill. kill it. This app already backlist system app so it wont be killed.
