I have a new tablet running android 6.0.1 - mainly as an ereader and I was hoping to again use the feature I used to love on my old dead tablet - the ability to have TTS read ebooks to me.... trouble is with this new one, the default google voice is annoying and my beloved Ivona Amy UK no longer works. I downloaded a couple of other choices (CereProc Irish Caitlin & Svox British Victoria) - but they also don't work. It seems the google TTS overrides them and is the only one that will work. Such a pain!! Is there any TTS voices that do work with this version of android, or are there any settings I should be altering.
I do have to add that I did try disabling google tts, and promptly found that then the other tts apps just gave me new error messages! (Instead of just being silently and sneakily overrriden by the annoying voice I don't want, I get silence and "try again later" or "engine failed" type messages)
