[BETA] Backup Wonder Machine (no root, ICS only)

Does anybody know if this also backs up pics and videos, etc... saved on the SD card partition of the Galaxy Nexus??

Attempting to back up a Verizon Gnex with stock 4.02 ICS, I get prompted to enter an encryption password, even though I have not encrypted the phone.

Nothing I enter seems to make the backup proceed (pressing Back up my data after entering an encryption password).

Any ideas?

I dont know if anyone answered you or not but just dont type anything and start it, that worked for me at least.

This was the first step to me unlocking/rooting (onto Wug's). As someone mentioned, I do see a backup.ab file but it's only ~290kb. I don't have all that much on my phone, just some pics and apps. I walked away and came back to a "process could not be completed" or something to that effect I've seen before after a reboot that has no effect to my knowledge (used to a bb storm lol). Thanks, Jerry! Would just appreciate some advice on how to verify I'm good to go.

I just used this on my VZE GNEX before rooting. Seemed to backup fine. When restoring, how do you know it is done?
And... all my photos in the gallery now show up as blank, it seems they are there just not displayed. any ideas?

I still can't get either BWM or ADB backup to work on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. On both 4.0.2 and current 4.0.4, the Full Backup screen appears on the phone, prompting me for a password. I've tried entering a password and leaving it blank. In both cases, the "Back up my data" button at bottom right does not respond to touch. The "Do not baclk up" button does respond?

What setting or application could prevent this from working? The only thing I can suspect is that I have an Exchange email account setup. Perhaps the security policies enabled when I set that up prevent backup? I've tried removing that account, but it doesn't fix the problem.

Any thoughts on the cause or things I could try to get backup to work?

Thanks Man,
This is awesome. I wanted to backup newly updated ICS IMM76L to my MotoXoom MZ602 Tablet, while keeping a copy of the non-rooted system. This did the trick. You are Fricken Awesome! I think I cried a little. LOL :D

Sweet. When I get the ICS OTA this month for my Evo3D, this will be the first thing I do.

Most peculiar. I started this running, and tapped "back up my data" to start the process.

When I came back to it later, I noticed a 0kb "backup.ab" file on my computer, while my phone was stuck on backing up "com.google.shareddata" (I think).

I quit the application (and closed the console) and the backup.ab file jumped to over 1,054,186 KB! And "com.google.shareddata" started switching to other things, suggesting that the backup had started... back up.

Only thing was: that 1GB file didn't get any bigger. So I can only assume that backup.ab is a very incomplete backup, useless to me.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Nice! But I think I'm going to stick with My Backup Pro since it works perfectly for me :)

Will this work for jellybean as well? 4.1.1? I didn't root the phone and now I have to do an RMA and handset swap.

I guess that's a no. I get the prompt on the phone but the backup my data button is dead and noes nothing no matter how many times you hit it. If you select the do not backup data button and try again both buttons will be greyed out.

Will this save app data in such that it will re-install them without setting up log-ins and preferences like titanium backup? Will this save game data as well? I have been using My Backup Pro (I'm not rooted), but when I restore apps/games, all have to be set back to original settings and all game data/progress is lost.

The backup description in the settings menu for back up my data and automatic restore suggest that it will do that but the online google backup certainly didn't work for me and this offline app didn't run (see prior posts). My loose understanding is that this app is supposed to do the same thing as the google services backup but only offline.

I'd be interested in hearing if this works still after updating to 4.1.1 for anyone, guessing it is a NO.

Apple backup certainly is way ahead of google in backup/restore both online and offline, I never lost anything I didn't want to. Seems the only effective way to do a reliable backup in android is to root? I haven't quite gone that far yet.

I'll be trying this when I start installing roms, but I'll make a titanium back as well to be safe at first

Tried it with my Net10 LG L40G (Optimus Extreme). No luck. Been trying every method known to root without success as well. But thanks for the method.
