This is a new bug I've experienced these past few days and I was wondering if anyone else has encountered the same thing.

I press the microphone button in Android Auto and it flashes red to speak. Before I can say anything, it turns blue and says "I'm sorry, if you just said something, I didn't hear it." This happens whether I'm tapping the microphone on screen or using my steering wheel button.

Has anyone else had that happen? I have a note 4, and a Hyundai Sonata 2015 limited.

I am having the same issue - I have almost the same vehicle. I have a 2015 Sonata Sport Limited but I also run a Note 4. Just recently started happening.

Glad I'm not the only one! It seemed fine today for me, so maybe it's an intermittent bug? It only happened twice to me within the past few weeks, so I'm not sure what causes it.

Ever since the most recent update to Android Auto (version 1.5, released 12/15/15), I have also struggled with this issue. Until today, when I finally figured out that the software update also necessitated a firmware update on my head unit. Of course, there was no indication that such would be the case from Android Auto, and users have no choice to update or not with this app. Where you have to go for your firmware update will depend on what manufacturer of head unit you have. I have a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX, so I went to Pioneer's website to get the latest firmware (which came out on 12/16/15, one day after the software update). I installed the firmware update... and it STILL didn't work. Lastly, I uninstalled Android Auto from my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5, if that matters), and reinstalled it... and NOW I finally have Android Auto working like it should.
Things I can't answer:
• Will users will need to update firmware on their head unit every time Android Auto does a software update? No idea. I only know that updating the firmware this time seems to have fixed the problem... this time.
• I have a [ANYTHING THAT ISN'T A PIONEER AVH-4100NEX], what is the process for updating the firmware with my head unit?. Check with your manufacturer. Aftermarket units probably have a pretty good support website with all you need. Hopefully the units that come built-in with new cars have a means to allow users to do firmware updates.

Good luck & godspeed.

I can answer your first point: updates to Android Auto will not normally require headunit firmware updates. The main reason for AA is so that this experience can evolve with smartphone updates without having to update car hardware/software.

However, its still new and manufacturers like Pioneer will have bugs to work out in getting their interface to AA and CarPlay right. Still those updates should be infrequent.

Yeah. Same thing happened to me Galaxy Note 4 and Pioneer Avh 4100nex
Android auto. Microphone not working.
I guess I need to get a different memory stick. It didn't recognize the firmware upgrade on this one.
