why is my S5 screen light very low

[Android Central Question]

Can barely see boot up screens but then screen goes dark. The phone has booted.

Welcome to Android Central! If even the boot screen is very dim, then the backlight has probably failed. Bring it to a repair shop (or, considering how old that phone is, seriously consider getting a newer, more modern phone).
