Android Central Question

recently my phone screen shifted upwards. the status bar is cut off, and the bottom part of the screen shows that the bottom pixels are black.

I've tried resetting the phone to no avail.

Samsung s8. No I am not using a launcher, all my settings are all OOTB.

In landscape mode, everything is fine nothing is shifted or cropped.
This issue only happens in portrait mode

Still persisted after a reboot and I already tried rebooting safe mode, it didnt work.
I tried changing the screen resolution and even enabled one-handed mode just in case it might reset something. No luck.
I am also running the most up-to date version of android on the phone.

This is an outdated article. Smart Switch no longer supports firmware reinstallation. I do not have the device initialization as in the video.

Can you please provide a workaround

Oh, sorry. I'll leave it to mustang7757 -- he's a wizard at this sort of thing.:)

Please find attached.
When taking a screenshot from the phone, everything is displayed correctly and nothing is cut off or shifted.
So i had to take a photo using an external camera. I hope this helps with the investigation.

screenshotting using gestures gave the same output. When opening the photo on the computer it doesnt show as shifted.
Please find attached a screenshot of the phone screen.

Thanks for your help. This wasnt a software issue.
This isnt my phone but a family member. They had a screen protector installed and the screen protector has a black border on the top and bottom. The protector was installed too low which "cropped" the top and gave it a shifted look.
They informed me that they had the screen protector installed but it didnt dawn me for this to be the issue. I just figured the changed a setting and they didnt realize (which they did quite often lol)

Aha! Glad you figured it out. Upon closer inspection of that photo you posted, I should've thought of that myself!
