I've successfully taken photos of documents on my 4 year old Lenovo m8 tablet (Android 10, Google Chrome) back camera to email to myself so that I can throw away the paper copies many times.

But this morning when I tried taking a photo of documents the photo under "todays" photos are black. Before snapping the photo, the documents appeared perfectly on the screen. I went to camera settings and reset all the settings to "default settings". I tried several times to no avail.

Please advise. Thank you!

Have you tried any other camera apps to try to figure out if the issue is with the camera app or the camera module itself? Are any other documents/images corrupted or suddenly appear 'blank'? If you send a recent file to another device (via e-mail, BT, etc.), does the image appear 'blank' there as well?

Also, try a simple reboot to see if the problem persists.

Where does the image appear black -- in the gallery app, or are you only looking at the Camera app's thumbnail preview?

Thank you for the good ideas. I didn't have a chance to address this until 20 minutes ago. But before I addressed it, I tried taking pictures of the above mentioned documents and the camera worked fine. I rebooted my tablet for another reason this morning -- maybe that's why it worked fine 20 minutes ago.

B.Diddy, I had to reboot my tablet for a different reason this morning. When I had a chance to address this 20 minutes ago, I tried the camera again and it worked. Based on your comment, maybe rebooting was the solution.

The image appeared black in the pre installed Photo app and in the Camera app's thumbnail preview.

I just deleted the black image from the pre installed Photo app. Thanks for your help.
