Google chrome keeps opening spam pages

[Android Central Question]

Hi,

Google Chrome keeps opening spam pages in new tabs, also when I'm using other apps at that moment, it just takes over. Already did a security scan and nothing to see, tried clearing cache, data, etc. When that didn't work I uninstalled updates for Chrome but nothing works... Does anyone have an idea of what else I can try?

Welcome to Android Central! In the Chrome menu, go to the Privacy section and clear your browsing history and cookies "from the beginning of time," and do the same on your desktop Chrome (in case it's syncing back to your mobile Chrome).

This can also be due to some app you installed that carries adware, so you may have to uninstall apps one by one as well.
