Android Central Question

Using spark for my gmail account. as it does work more often than the gmail app and outlook did

If my phones been on standby for 15 mins or more I wont get email notifications, why ?

With gmail and outlook I never got notifications even if the phone was unlocked. At least with spark I get them when unlocked and even just after putting the phone into standby.

Its after 10 minute or so of being in standby nothing comes through

Tried that dude . On the Samsung forums loads of people have the same problem
Some have had the issue with stock Gmail app your using a app to access gmail, try Samsung email app ?

Can also see the settings inside the app itself can be changed.

Yeah I'm using "spark" which is much better than the stock app however after a few mins of the phone being in standby I dont get any email notifications

If you're finding a lot of people having this issue and it's not directly linked to Spark, the app you're using, there's a good chance it's a bug issue and will require a patch to fix. Although you like Spark I would suggest that you try at least one other app to verify if it is a system issue or an app settings issue.

My first inclination when seeing your question was that the app is being put to sleep. Samsung I've found goes to the extreme with putting apps to sleep. If it has ever informed you that an app is running in the background and asked you'd like put it to sleep and you say yes, it will forever put that app to sleep. It doesn't tell you this, and the warning sounds like it is a one time thing, when in fact it is a permanent setting change. And the way you describe your issue is exactly how it works. If the screen is on and you're using the device the app works. Let the screen timeout or put the screen to sleep and the app goes to sleep. Check Settings>Device care>Battery>App power management>Sleeping apps and see if your app appears there, then remove it from that list if it does.

There is a command you can send to the phone via adb which basically disables doze completely but every time you restart the phone it needs to be done again

Two issues
1st was no notifications in standby mode which I fixed by running the script in adb
2nd was rarely any notifications coming through my wifi because the channel was congested
Gotcha , the script that turn off doze .
Glad its good now !
