Whenever I put my 3a to my ear the drop down menu pops down, when I've finished a call I can't see the display turns down the brightness. How do I fix this?

Whenever I put my 3a to my ear the drop down menu pops down, when I've finished a call I can't see the display turns down the brightness. How do I fix this?
Welcome to Android Central! I assume you mean the Pixel 3a, right? Make sure the proximity sensor isn't blocked by anything, like a poorly fitted screen protector or case. Also make sure the glass overlying the proximity sensor is completely clean. (The sensor is right next to the front-facing camera.)
