Why is my text messaging continually freezing?

Text Messaging Freezing

Hi,
If I receive a text message while I am typing a text message, my screen will just freeze up and I cannot type or read anything. Or if I am typing a message, it will freeze, like I am typing/swiping too fast or something.
It seems to do this if I am getting/sending text messages quickly, like it can't keep up or something. Any ideas? It's really frustrating.
