wifi will not even turn on?

[AC Question]

It was working fine up until last weekend, now the wifi on/off switch is grayed out, will slide to the right but does not stay and bounces back to off. I've restarted 5 times, no change. Need advice on what to try, thanks

What phone is it? Have you normally got good wifi in your area?

it's an S4, and yes the wifi at home and at work are strong. Same issue of not being able to turn it on is occurring in both places.

Believe the S4 is prone to this. Was it by any chance following a system update? (Also, you've presumably tried the simplest ploy, remove/replace battery?)

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not try to remove the battery. I just did and that worked. Thank you!!
