Google play disappeared

[AC Question]

I'm using a Galaxy S4.

The Google Play Store app has disappeared from my app drawer. It still shows on the list of apps in my application manager. It is NOT turned off, hidden or disabled. I just can't access it.

I tried to re-install the app from Google Play's website, but it tells me that the app is already installed on my device. So, I tried to uninstall it from my phone, but it won't uninstall. I have restarted my phone several times, but there's no change.

Can anyone help?

Have you done anything before that (change ROM, reset) ?
The radical solution is to factory reset but ...

No, I didn't do anything before the change. No re-routing, reset or anything like that. In fact, I'm not even sure when it disappeared. The last time I used it was probably a month ago.

I've just tried clearing the cache and uninstalling updates through the application manager, but there is still no icon in the app drawer.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you clear the app cache, or the system cache partition? If the former, then try wiping the cache partition: Reset: Samsung Galaxy S 4 | T-Mobile Support

I've fixed it!

I managed to download the apk file for the app from another website and reinstall it. After restarting my phone, all is back to normal.
