"Ok Google Play this song" always takes me to Google Play

When I say "Ok Google, Play Madness" for example, it will start playing the song in Google Play Music. There is a drop down menu that allows me to pick my stock music player, which is exactly what I want. But, then when I ask Google to play something else, it doesn't remember this and still takes me to Google Play Music. How can I make Google's default music player be my stock music player?

Open system settings > applications > sort by all > Google Music. See if there is an option to "clear defaults." If so, clear it. Try again and let us know how it goes.

If it doesn't work then it's likely the way Google Now has been designed: to open Google Music first rather than the media player of choice.
