Please be more specific. If you are trying to enter the lower case i but it is being replaced by the upper case due to autocorrect holding the letter and selecting the lower case should work. If prediction is on you can touch it from the predicted letters/words and it should stick. If you are not being given letters and only a number pad appears usually in the lower left hand corner is a key with ABC which should give you the regular keyboard, and if not i is on the number 4 key holding it should bring up all of the characters available to that key.
