help pse in installing updates

please help me --- i received a message that i need to install updates on my tablet galaxy tab 2... i click to install and now my tablet does not switch off. do updates take more than 4 hours pse. help.... i am panicking. Marina

Welcome to Android Central! What kind of update was it--a system update or an app update? What screen is it frozen on? Any messages on that screen?
