Why does my Galaxy S5 caller ID show unavailable when I receive a call from my land-line telephone?

AC Question

Why does my S5 caller ID show unavailable when called by my home phone landline ?

I have Comcast phone service bundled with cable TV and internet. Could that be why it shows as unavailable? Too much tech for this 62 year old Luddite, I guess.

Comcast sends the caller ID information to your cellphone carrier. They send it to your phone. There are a couple of reasons you could be receiving that message - your Comcast phone account is set to block ID on all calls (dialing *67 before the cellphone number should unblock for that call) or Comcast (not famous for getting things right) may have messed something up.

Call someone else's cellphone - somneone on a different cellphone carrier. If it works, it's your carrier causing the problem, call them. If not it's Comcast, call them.

(From a 72 year old definitely non-Luddite.)
