AC Question

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 through Straighttalk. I love the stock messaging app - it works for me. Texting heavy on it today, and this evening it started failing to send messages. About 30 mins after that, it stopped receiving messages all together. Testing from other phones, I can receive to Google Hangouts, which I hate. I also downloaded Textra - but I can't receive on that system either.

Is there a way to reboot the stock app? I really prefer it.

Thank you!

PS - non-tech lingual.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to your System Settings, then App Manager, and select Messaging. Tap Force Stop, then Clear Cache. Now see if it works. If it still doesn't, then consider the Clear Data option on that screen as well, although it may delete any saved messages you might have.

If you mean replace the stock app (you can't reboot an app, you reboot a computer), not unless you can find an apk file for it. (If someone has an S3 and is willing to back up his Messaging (or Messages - whatever the S3 uses) app to an apk file for you, you can run that on your phone and it'll reinstall the app. Back up all your texts first.)
