Root methods are rarely universal. You typically need the proper method for your device. Since there are no ROMs for the device, rooting may be futile. However, if the device kernel was made before June 2 you can use towleroot.

1) There's a difference between rooting and flashing a new ROM.

2) Look in Settings/General/About device/Kernel. What's the date of the kernel? If it's still before June 3, 2014 (it should be if you haven't updated it), Towel Root or Kingo may root it. (If not, all they'll do is tell you that they can't, they won't cause any problems.) For Kingo you'll need a PC with a driver for the tablet - try the Koush Universal Driver. Towel Root is an app that runs on the phone itself.
