Why i cant read message in my inbox?

Why i cant read message in my inbox? my friend text me and i can read it from my cellphone screen but when i go to my message inbox no message at all. what is the problem?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? Are you sure you're opening the Messaging app, and not the Email or Gmail app?
