Welcome to Android Central! Are you in the Gmail app and trying to figure out how to delete an email? Or do you want to delete the actual Gmail app?

In Gmail, to delete an email in your email list view, tap the contact image at the left of the email to select it, then tap the garbage can icon at the upper right. Or you could open the email, then tap Menu, then tap the garbage can icon at the upper right.

You can't delete preinstalled apps like Gmail. If you never use it, you can go to Settings>Apps>All, select Gmail, and tap Disable. This will prevent the app from opening, but won't remove the app from storage.

I thought there is no option to select multiple for deletion earlier, until I just tried again. Even the Help section says you have to name or search a group. I use Gmail rarely.

To select multiple, hold on one email without opening it. The mail and top bar will turn grey and a 'bin' will appear, when you can then select more.

A little worrying it calls them conversations for deletion. Another bar appears on the bottom with an Undo button for a few seconds.
