I'm getting unwanted notifications from Google Play Services

AC Question

I started to download an app for the first time on my new Samsung S5. It wanted me to active Google Play Services (and a couple of others). I got about halfway through and changed my mind, but now I'm getting notifications that Google Play Services can't perform some function or access something. I've tried uninstalling Google Play Services from my phone. I've gone into my gmail account from my computer to make sure there are no phones associated with my account, but no matter what I do I can't make it stop. My wife is having the same problem on her phone too.

Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Google Play Services is pretty integral to using all Google apps and services on an Android device, so if you disable it or delete it, you'll severely hamper the phone's usefulness.

What app were you trying to install? What was the exact message about Google Play Services? Had you Disabled or Turned Off Google Play Services in the App Manager beforehand?
