A firmware update makes Samsung S3 go into repeated update/restart/optimise cycle

I turned on wifi today on my Samsung S3 and received notification of updates. I ran the updates and the device rebooted, then optimised the apps. Shortly afterwards, it did the same thing - downloaded Android updates and cycled through the startup again. So far this evening it's done it four times. How do I stop it doing this?! I've turned off wifi but have a feeling when I turn it on again the same thing will happen.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you go to Settings>About Phone and see if the Build Number changes after each update?
