Why does wi-fi disconnect when screen is unlocked?

A

AC Question

When I unlock my screen my wifi disconnects. Wifi stays connected when the screen is active as well as when the screen is locked but as soon as the screen is unlocked the wifi disconnects.
To reconnect I need to switch wi-fi off and back on or go to wi-fi settings and tap on wi-fi name and tap connect.

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? Try going to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced, and fiddle around with some of those settings. Try turning "Wifi Optimization" off, if that option is present.

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. The wierd thing is that it only happens with one of the user accounts of the tablet, so I'm thinking it's an app issue (user accounts have different apps installed).

Any idea which app could be causing this?

I've just solved my problem. It turns out it was the Fon app causing it. I had it installed but never logged in, which apparently caused the Wi-Fi connection to act weirdly. Once I logged in, the problem was gone.

Good luck to the rest!
