Why is it that my power button is not working?

I just bought my cherry (Cheer) mobile last this January 2015, and just this morning my power button is not working anymore, when I charge it, it shows that it is still charging but, when I tried to push the power button, it's not working anymore. Please help me, I have lost the receipt of that phone, so I guess I just can't get any help from the service center. What's wrong with my phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Power buttons can fail--but it could also be a problem with the motherboard. Either way, you'll probably have to bring the phone to a repair shop to diagnose the problem.
