Why can't I receive texts anymore, but can send them?

I can't receive texts anymore, but can send them.

I tried rebooting. I removed the battery and the SIM card. I put the SIM card in a different phone and then put it back. I cleared the data in settings/apps/messaging. (No data seems you be gone. )

I did notice that the messaging app doesn't appear in my list of running apps, but is in the "all" list.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Have you spoken to your carrier?
