AC Question

Got notification that my Nexus 10 tablet was ready to do the OTA update to Android 5.1. I OK'd the download and gave permission to install the update. During the update, the Android Icon appeared with the red triangle ! above his torso with a simple "error" message underneath. Then the tablet spontaneously rebooted. I checked the tablet info and it said I was still at 5.02. After a couple of tries, I couldn't get the tablet to search for updates to see if I could give it another try.

Anyone else have this problem?

Is your tablet rooted or modified in any way (custom recovery, etc?)

There are a bunch of requisite checks that the OTA upgrade goes through before it loads the update. If you are getting that error, it is tripping one of those checks.

I am having the same problem with my Nexus 5. Yes, I am rooted, but I'm not using a custom ROM. Is there a fix for this other than un-rooting the device?

If you are stock, just unroot the device. Every method will most likely require you to re-root the device once you update.

There are other ways to update, like manually flashing via fastboot... but even those will require you to re-root the phone.
