Can somebody tell me what the max cache size is for 4.2.2? I've been reading that frequent use of cache cleaning apps may do more harm than good so I want two leave it alone. I'm wondering how big is too big and when it would be appropriate to use a cache cleaner. Or is it not necessary and the OS eventually take care of it on its own?

You can manually clear the cache data whenever you want. Some apps, like chrome, will use a lot and it's good to do that once in a while. Go to settings, storage and wait for the calculations to be done. Tap on "cached data" and confirm. Easy, no need of those cleaner apps.

I tried that and it definitely helped thank you. This will also clear the cache in Chrome? I don't have to go and do that manually through the browser?

Glad it helped. That way you clear all the cache of every app you've got installed. You can clear cache for an specific app going to settings - apps.
