My HTC One keeps force opening my internet with a message that says "your android requires upgrade". When I get clicked on it I was redirected to an cleaner app in the Play Store which obviously has nothing to do with an OS update. I think it may be a virus but I'm not sure

Welcome to Android Central! It's not a virus--it's adware. If it only occurs while browsing, then it's probably associated with the website you're visiting--avoid it

If it's appearing on the homescreen, then some app (probably a game) you installed probably came with adware that trying to get you to install that useless (and possibly malicious) app. You may have to uninstall apps one by one to figure out which app is responsible.
