How can I open a text file attached to an email in the android gmail app using a text editor?

When I view a text file attached to a gmail app email, it is opened in an "html viewer" which does not display the text file in a readable form with line breaks and expanded tab space. Can I set the gmail app to use a downloaded text editor to display text files?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a 3rd party text editor installed? If so, go to Settings>Apps>All, and select HTML Viewer. Tap Clear Defaults. Now see if you can select the text editor instead when you try to open the text file.
