Google photos backup problems

Hi,

I have a note 4 and recently replaced the SD card (where I store my photos). Now google photos won't back up to my google account. I have researched this problem but none of the suggestions have worked for me. I saw that someone cleared the Google photos app data and cache. Will this delete just the Google app data or also my photos? Also, does anyone have any suggestions?

Clearing Google Photos cache and data only clears local databases. Your currently saved photos in your Google Photos cloud remain untouched, as do your locally saved photos. After clearing the Google Photos cache and data, opening Google Photos will force it to sign back into your Google account, and will resync with Google Photos in the cloud, as well as scan your storage areas for photos. Hopefully, this will allow it to see the new SD card folder and allow you to back up from it.
