battery discharges quickly when samsung tab 3.0 8inch is switched off

Hi I have been an owner of a samsung tab 3, 8 inches brand new for about a year recently noticed that I switch off the tablet and say the battery was at 76 % when I switch it back on it is always down to about 23 % do I have to replace the battery

It could be the battery or it could be some apps that are running processes.. Do you have a lot of games that have push notifications?
