Can an image widget open an app?

I want to have a big image that I can tap on to open a specific app, instead of a little square, is that possible?
For example, I have my GBA emulator games set up like in the image, but can I somehow get rid of the icons at the right and just have the big image as the... thing I need to tap to launch them?

Sorry if confusing.

Welcome to Android Central!

You can try installing a different launcher like Nova launcher that allows you to customize the icons.

Also, you could try using Zooper Widgets. Create a widget as big as you want, include that pic on it and define the action to open the app when you tap on it. You can even define different actions when you tap on different places on that widget.
