YouTube app stuttering

I have a huawei honor 6 and recently in the past week or so the YouTube app has started to stutter, only occasionally, still very annoying. All of a sudden while playing a video it will start to lag and the audio too stutters, the whole app starts to lag.. And gets back to normal in few seconds. The constantly keeps building cache and stops at around 270 mb and I am not sure if that's in the reason as it has happened with the cache at 100 mb.Things I've tried to no avail:
Clear app cache, restarted phone multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled app updates, wipe cache partition through recovery.

And I am unable to uninstall the app completely as it was pre installed.

Is anyone facing the Same issue?

Any help is hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

Haven't checked with mobile data yet.But I would like to mention that it is not buffering,at the time the app skips frames the video is already completely buffered. And the whole app app skips frames. Anything I try to do in the app at that point skips frames and is choppy as hell, basically the whole app is unusable for a few seconds.

What version of Google Play Services is installed? I'm currently on 7.5.74.

Also, this is a longshot, but go to Settings>Developer Options, and look for an option to toggle between AwesomePlayer and NuPlayer (this is only for Lollipop). If you have that option, toggle it to the other setting and see if that helps.

Even I have the same version of Google play services and I am running KitKat unfortunately. Anything else?Btw thank you for the help till now.

I wonder if it might be an issue with the YouTube server. Does this happen if you use the YouTube mobile site on your phone's browser?

For the time I used YouTube with the browser it did happen. And it is very hard to reproduce, happens out of the blue.

If it only happens with streaming YouTube videos (and not with streaming videos from other sites), then I'm guessing it's a server issue. Not sure what else to suggest at this point besides waiting a bit longer to see if it resolves.

My other apps do fine. And yes this happens only occasionally. And I have about 3 gb left in internal storage. I guess at this point waiting to see if it gets fixed is the only option.
