Why is the first letter of a word getting deleted when I type?

I've been having an issue for a few weeks now where when I am typing, the first letter of a word will be deleted right after I type it. For instance, if I'm typing "girl" I'll start typing and it will delete the "g" right after typing and I'll be left with "irl". It's very frustrating to have to go back and re-type the words. Does anyone know what's causing this issue or how to fix it?

I have this same issue and it is driving me insane. I have had iPhones, and Windows phones, but the keyboard on my S6 edge Android (first android phone) is causing so many frustrations whilst typing and this is one of them. If anyone can help with a solution I'd also be most grateful.

Just standard Samsung keyboard

I didn't realise you could download and install different keyboards! Downloaded the Google keyboard and so far so good and no 1st letter deletions!
