I want to send a text to several people at the same time without having to retype or forward the message.

Hello and welcome to Android Central!

Just curious here, what phone do you have and do you have the stock (pre-installed) messaging app? Here's what I found that might help to get you started:

Welcome to Android Central! You have to initiate a group text by starting a new message and selecting multiple recipients. And make sure mobile data is on, because a group text is sent as an MMS message, which doesn't go over voice signal or wi-fi.
Hopefully all will work out for you and enjoy!

Also, in most messages apps you can send the same text to several people just selecting them in the "To" box. Open your messages app, write the message, tap on the "To" box and find your contact using the keyboard, confirm and repeat the process for all the contacts you want.
