How do I connect to PC when I can't select USB data storage mode?

My screen is smashed and there is no power to the LCD. The phone does turn on and charges as I can see the LED indicator. Are there any programs I can use to retrieve the data from the phone?

Unfortunately you won't be able to connect with a broken screen. In the future, be sure to keep backups of any important data that you may need.
