Samsung Galaxy Centura says its out of wifi range, I am 3 feet from the router, help?

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Centura phone. I programmed my Wifi router name and password and made sure that the wifi slider is on, yet when I am sitting not 3 feet away from my router, the phone claims that I am out of range. I tried 'forgetting' and resetting the network and achieved only the same result. Can anyone tell me what to do to get this working? Thank you.
