how do i get google maps to route me using highways not streets?

I want toy get directions using highways not streets.

Welcome to Android Central! Google Maps will always try to give you the quickest route, depending on traffic. I don't think you can force it to prefer highways. If Maps gives you a few different choices for a route, one of them might be by highway, but if it isn't presenting it as the first choice, it's probably because it will take longer.
