How to fix a phone when I leave it plugged in for along time

Are you sure that it's charging? Make sure that all your charging equipment is good and that the phone's USB port is clean and undamaged.
If all seems well, try pressing Power for a minute or so....or pressing Power and Volume Up+Down for a minute or so.
Otherwise, the battery may have failed, among other possibilities.
