Every time my phone dies or I turn it off, when it comes back on it sends random old texts. Sometimes the texts are 2 days old, sometimes 2 months. When I first got the phone, it sent a TON of super old messages to random people but I thought it was just from switching over from my old droid. This is getting ridiculous and quite embarrassing! Also, it randomly skyped someone during the middle of the night the other night...twice. I was asleep and awoke to it calling someone. Can anyone help with these two issues? I went to the Messenger app and cleared the cache on it already.

Welcome to Android Central! That's clearly abnormal behavior, so I would suspect a problem either with the phone hardware or with the carrier network. Which phone is it? Have you discussed this with your carrier?
