Does the iPhone to Android texting issue still exist?

My iPhone 5 got stolen recently and I'm thinking of getting an Android (maybe the 6p) whenever I get my next phone, but was wondering if the texting issues still happen with texts, group texts etc. (my friend who had a Samsung complained about it a while back but he has an iPhone 6 now so I don't know if still exists) . People with iPhones can text people with Android devices. That's not really where the issue is though, the issue starts when you move from iPhone to Android. There is an Apple SelfSolve page for resolving that. The group text issue is there regardless.
