I let my son take my phone with him to his friends house. I use my husbands phone to locate mine with device manager but last time an icon came up and showed i was looking for him. If i want to check where he is without him knowing how do I do it?
Can't do it with Android Device Manager. But I'd think him knowing you might check up on his whereabouts at any time would be even better than him not knowing. If it were my kid I'd want him to know I might check on him, and have the phone scare him when he sees I have. Make him worry. IOW, instead of catching him where he shouldn't be, it might keep him from going there in the first place. Do you want prevention or intervention?
