AC Question

So I have been having a problem for a while now where the Bluetooth is just turning off in my car. The actually box becomes unchecked. Had it at Toyota 4 times and they say it is the Android version and that Toyota is working on it with Android. Being in technology I didn't believe them but the phone had been working in the car for more than a year.
I decided to prove them wrong by doing a factory reset on my phone, it was a pain but revealed interesting results. Took it back to version 4.xxx and my phone worked great with the bluetooth in the car and the bluetooth did not turn off.
Now my phone was updated AGAIN to 5.0 and it has started turning the Bluetooth off to the point I cannot use it at all.
Is anyone aware of this or have ideas? I am planning to get an IPhone just so I can use the Bluetooth. I have to drive a lot

I just came back from Prius and Toyota has technical tip that may help with blue tooth turning off. The process is to disable text message connect from your phone to Prius. The tip applies to Android 4.0 and higher operating system on phones.

1. Delete pairing on phone
2. Archive and Delete all old text messages on phone and turn off phone.
3. Delete pairing on Prius.
4. Turn off Prius for couple of minutes and turn on the Prius
5. Turn on the phone
6. Pair phone with Prius
7. When a message appears on phone to connect for text messages " DO NOT ALLOW IT"
8. Prius will not turn off blue tooth as long as messages are not connected with Prius. You can have medial and audio connected.

I tried it and works. Don't know if it will continue to work.

Good Luck

I've had the same problem since updating my phone. When I looked at my pairing on my phone I simply tapped on the settings icon and disabled the text option. That was all I has to do and the problem was solved.
Good luck!

I had the same problem pairing a 2013 Prius to a Samsung J7. On the Paired Devices page on the phone I chose the Prius and disabled the text (SMS) option and the problem was solved!
