Wi-Fi stuck on "checking quality of network connection"

[AC Question]

had this problem for a day and on many wifi networks, so i know it's my phone that's the problem. I tried "forget this network" then reconnecting but no luck. Also tried turning on flight mode and trying to connect, but also same result. Heard of people with similar problems who reset the phone and no change so don't want to do that.

You've tried the simplest remedy, a Power Off and Restart?
