how can I successfully uninstall previous versions of Kies from my Galaxy s5 from my PC?

when I try to install Kies 3 to my galaxy s5 i am asked to uninstall previous versions of Kies before proceeding. But when i go to uninstall Samsung Kies and Samsung kies 3 from the control panel nothing happens. Infact there is no indication that these two apps are in the pc as there is nothing indicating size or when files were installed. and when i repeat the process of installing using the install wizard same message asking me to uninstall all previous versions of Samsung Kies in order to proceed. I have used Kies before perhaps with S4 phone. I have samsung link and dropbox. could they be the prolem?
