Best computer transfer program to use

I purchased a used Note 5. Smart Switch continually hangs up without completing the transfer. That being the case, what's the best PC based program to use to transfer music, pics and videos?
Source phone is Galaxy Note Edge .
Target phone is Galaxy Note 5

Assuming you mean a Windows PC, what's wrong with the standsrd Windows Explorer? (Now called File Explorer in Win 10)

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

I do what Crrashdamage suggested, or I use WiFi File Transfer.

One problem you might be having is that you're going through a USB hub that can't take sustained file transfers. (The chip in the hub gets hot and shuts off.) Try plugging the phone directly into the computer.
