Google Play Music notification bar is HUGE

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I've tried a few different versions, but I keep getting this huge notification bar. Now, normally it wouldn't be a problem, but it is definitely annoying when I have a bunch of other notifications especially when I want to expand one.

I have this problem too, and I didn't find a solution yet. It's pretty annoying. And it seems to be something related to Galaxy S5 only.
Touching the bar with two fingers and pulling it up will temporary release some space, but after locking the screen and then unlocking it, the huge ugly bar will be restored.

I have restored the app to the factory version, then installed this version (6.1.2116T.2441907):

This one has the old style bar, without the thumbs in the bottom. I didn't test this version with Chromecast yet, but with old versions I do remember some kind of malfunction.
