Why don't all pictures show up when accessing the gallery via the camera app?

I have pictures that were transferred from my iPhone when I bought the Samsung s7 from Verizon. They appear in the gallery if i select it from my home screen but not if I select the gallery from within the camera app. Any new pictures I take appear in both places. I've done the cache clear, data clear and force stop thing for both the camera and the gallery app, and I've rebooted the phone. So far nothing has changed.

If they are in a "download" folder you won't see them from the camera app. Put them in a different folder should do the trick...
